Golfe Juan – “New Beach”
Just east of the Harbour/Marina in Golfe Juan. Family Friendly and a few Restaurants. Plenty of Parking. 5-10 mins in the car.
Golfe Juan – “Old Beach”
Just west of the Harbour/Marina in Golfe Juan. Plenty of Parking. No Restaurants on the Beach but there are a lot of restaurants on the Promenade. 5-10 mins in the car.
Plage de la Garoupe
Cosy small beach near Antibes. Family friendly and with a few restaurants. There is a nice footpath that takes you around the bay and past on of Roman Abramovich residences. The walk takes about an hour and is a little bit tricky so bring water and wear proper shoes and don’t bring small kids. Parking can be tricky so get there early. 20 mins drive in the car.
Plage Long Beach
Located in front of the promenade in Central Cannes. Very busy beach in the summer but plenty of restaurants nearby. You can park in one of the many Parking Garages but they are quite pricy. 15-20 mins in the car.
Cannes – just west of the marina. Lovely beaches with pontoons that you can swim out to. Park on the street or in a Parking Garage. 20-25 mins in car.
Plage de Pampelonne
Large wide beach just south of St Tropez. Jet set, but family friendly. Leave super early in the morning. St Tropez is not far away but with summer traffic and only small roads leading in and out of St Tropez it can take several hours if you are unlucky!
Towns to visit
St Paul De Vence
Fortified mediaeval town in the hills near Nice with narrow cobbled streets is a must see. Cosy restaurants and plenty of art galleries. Famous artists like Picsso and Mitisse used to visit The Restaurant La Colombe d’Or where some of their paintings are on display. https://edition.cnn.com/style/article/la-colombe-dor-vence-art/index.html
Another medieval fortified town on a hill filled with restaurants and art galleries.
Another charming town with plenty of restaurants. The first Sunday of every month sees a bric à brac and antiques market in the centre of Valbonne. https://www.cannestouristinformation.co.uk/valbonne.html
The old town is lovely and has a lot of restaurants and there is an evening market. It can be a bit touristy and some restaurants do not serve great food. Watch out for the restaurants in the main square and those who have a very large menu.
The marina is fun to explore. The further you walk out the bigger the yachts.
known for its annual Film festival. It also has all the luxury brand shops. Check out the famous Carlton hotel. There are plenty of restaurants.
Largest of the Lérins Islands, which are a group of islands just half a mile off the coast of Cannes in France. The Island’s first claim-to-fame was way back in the 17th Century. It was home to Fort Royal, a former prison which housed The Man in the Iron Mask for a short time.
Great for family day trip, great for hiking and lots of small beaches and coves ideal for snorkelling.
The city for the mega rich is always worth a visit. Take the train from Golfe Juan or you can drive there in about 40 mins. A couple of places to visit are the Casino, the old town and fort and the Aquarium.
Marineland – Antibes.
On 26 hectares it includes a marine zoological park with dolphinarium, a water park, a children’s play park, a mini golf and a Theme Park. https://www.marineland.fr/en/blog-inside-marineland/2018-reopening-programme
Cannyon Forest – Villeneuve-Loubet.
Tree climbing and Canyoning. http://www.canyonforest.com/contactus.html
Lake Castillon and Canyon du Verdun – Castellane.
Another must see. Up in the mountains near Castellane is the beautiful Verdun lake and river. Great for White Water rafting or Paddle boating. http://www.castellane-verdontourisme.com/uk/
There are many Golf courses on the French Riviera. Most of them are quite expensive. Here are a couple that we have used and can recommend.
Royal Mougins Golf Club (28 min drive)
“An exceptional place in the heart of the Provence”
Adress: 424 avenue du Roi, 06250 Mougins, France
Golf De Saint Donat (26 min drive)
“French coach Benoit Ducoulombier training course”
Adress: 270 route de Cannes, 06130 Grasse, France
Golf d’Opio Valbonne (29 min drive)
Opio-Valbonne Golf Club are one of the French Riviera’s jewels. Imagine an 18 hole course, nestled between sea and mountains, in the heart of a 220 hectares undulating property, shaded by centuries old trees, featuring a Gallo-roman aqueduct.
Adress: Route de Roquefort les Pins 06650 Opio, France
One of the nearest Vineyards can be found in the hills around Vence and Grasse.
Another really nice trip is to the wineyard Saint Martin (about 45 min by car). Check out www.chateaudesaintmartin.com/
If you like larger night clubs we recommend you go to Nice or Cannes.
Juan Les Pins is another popular evening destination with plenty of cocktail bars and a small Casino.
A visit at Villa Torpet would not be complete without a visit to the shopping district. We have a huge range of shopping options.
Carrefour Hypermarket – Antibes. Just of the A8 Motorway. Huge supermarket with everything you could possibly want or need. They sell everything from groceries and spirits to electronics and clothes. 15-20 Mins drive from the house
Le Clerc – Vallauris. This is the nearest well sorted store. Very nice food there and it’s closer than Carrefour.
